Take it from us - after attending on opening night, this show a MUST SEE! With roughly only two months of rehearsals under their belt, this talented team delivered a production that could hold its own on a Broadway stage!
From the moment the show began, it was clear this was no ordinary local production. The professionalism breaming from the stage was very apparent, and the cast’s skill level - both the vocalists and dancers - was truly top-notch. It was quite clear that casting was handled with great care and consideration. Each performer fit their role beautifully, breathing life into this iconic story with heart, humour and undeniable talent.
Still unsure of grabbing tickets to see the show before May 11th? Here’s a review of the show that breaks down all the reasons why you should join the fun!
The set design took this show to another level. With multiple scene settings, eye-catching designs, and logistics with harnesses and neat character transitions - it was incredibly interesting and immersive. The set made you feel like you were right there inside the world of 'Consolidated Industries'. There were no bulky props cluttering the stage or blocking views. Instead, every piece served a clear purpose and enhanced the storytelling.
The vocals were nothing short of breathtaking. It's hard to believe these singers are trained to give us over 10 shows from now until mid may! Each vocalist delivered a perfectly pitched, powerful, moving performance. The dancers were incredibly energetic and skilled with intermediate techniques. The energy throughout the show was impeccable. From the first note to the final bow, the cast kept the audience engaged, laughing, and cheering.
Speaking of laughter, 9 to 5 was incredibly witty, and the crowd wasn’t shy about showing their appreciation. Audible laughter rippled through the theatre during nearly every comedic moment, which was a true testament to the sharpness of the writing and the flawless comedic timing of the performers’ delivery. The humour walked the perfect line. It was mature enough to keep adults entertained but discreet enough that families could still enjoy the night out together (parental discretion is still advised).
Whether you’re a longtime fan of 9 to 5 or walking in blind, never having never seen the musical (or even the classic movie), this show is wonderfully digestible. The storyline is easy to follow, making it accessible for first-timers without sacrificing any depth or impact. In fact, the empowering themes of women standing up for themselves and reclaiming their power feel as fresh and relevant today as they did when the story first debuted. You’ll leave the theatre feeling proud, strong, and maybe even a little more determined to tackle whatever challenges life throws your way.
The costumes were also a highlight. Quick costume changes were done frequently by the ensemble and was full of variety and detail. The main characters had fun outfit moments as well and it was always easy to spot Dolly Parton’s character with her signature big blonde hair, which added to the clarity and charm of the show.
Finally, the live band added another layer of magic to the night. They nailed every note and transition, providing a dynamic soundtrack that kept the entire production lively and seamless.
9 to 5 The Musical is running Thursday through Sunday for the next few weeks, and it truly is the perfect idea for a fun spring night out. But we want to make it clear that while it’s a hilarious and heartwarming production, parental discretion is advised. The show does touch on themes like sex, violence (including guns), and some slightly offensive language, though it’s all handled with a light, comedic touch.
If you decide to go, here are a few tips to make the most of your night:
Dress the part! Embrace your inner 80s diva with curly hair, bell-bottoms, or bold prints.
Bring some cash. Programs are available by donation, and there's a food and drink station in the lobby.

Stick around after the show! The cast often comes out to the lobby to meet the audience, take photos, and chat, which is a really special touch that makes the evening even more memorable.
